You still don't know how to distinguish carbon fiber cloth from carbon fiber board?

Jul. 05, 2018

As we all know, carbon fiber is a new type of fiber material with high strength and high modulus fiber with carbon content above 95%. Carbon fiber cloth and carbon fiber board are the main application forms of carbon fiber materials. And the difference between them is not only the difference between "cloth" and "board". There are differences in thickness specifications and bearing capacity between carbon fiber cloth and carbon fiber board.

Generally speaking, the theoretical thickness of the first level carbon fiber cloth is only 0.167 mm, and the carbon fiber board is a composite material obtained by hardening the carbon fiber raw yarn and the resin, similar to the steel plate. The thickness is mainly 1.2 mm, 1.4 mm, 2.0 mm, and so on. From the perspective of tensile strength, the specification requires that the grade I carbon fiber cloth should reach 3400 MPa, which is higher than the first grade carbon fiber board’s 2400 MPa.

It is not difficult to see that in some applicable fields, carbon fiber cloth has certain advantages compared with carbon fiber board. Nanjing Mankate carbon fiber cloth has light weight and is easy to construct. It is soft and can be cut freely. It is suitable for various shapes and components. It can be closely bonded to the reinforced concrete surface, and the construction quality is guaranteed. The thickness is small and it is easy to overlap. The carbon fiber has a high tensile strength, which is equivalent to 4 to 8 times that of ordinary steel. It is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion and can be used in any harsh environment. The construction is simple and the required construction period is short. It is non-toxic and non-irritating, and even it can still be used when living.
